If You’re a Writer, Then What Media Do You Write?

Do You Write New Media? Social Media? News Media?

What does any of that mean? It’s nonsense!

Saying that there is a difference between a blog and an email is like saying that the words “I love you” are different if written by hand with a pen or typed by hand with a typewriter.

All Online Media (Publishing Technologies) are More / Less the Same

Anything that is online is available to the entire world-wide web. There may be some cryptographers who may argue this point, but I do not care to argue about the 1 in a million case — I am talking about the vast majority of cases.

What matters

is whether people are participating in this topic, this context, this issue, this page, this site….

Are We on the Same Page? Are We Speaking the Same Language?

If so, then please go ahead and tell me what you think — what’s on your mind… right now: in this context (in this web space)…?

What is Web 3.0 [Part 3] A New Era of Listening

Don’t Call Us, Don’t Call You

The revolution will not be telephoned. It will happen. The happening will happen, and the web will record it… — but I’m getting ahead of web 3.0.

So What’s Happnin’ Now?

Now you will continue to see the feedback loop which Tim O’Reilly has very well explicated reiterate — with one added caveat: We do not need to wait for people to speak up. Already today, eye-tracking is happening. But what do eyes actually tell us — anything more than mouse clicks?

What’s the Ugliest Part of Your Webspace?

Some say the spy, some say the virus — but I think it’s the mind.

We need to create a level playing field in which we “don’t mind” the interaction. This is a crucial element of trust. I will show you my thing if you agree not to tell anyone about it. If you say “yes”, but then do “no” — then I’ll say goodbye.

What is Web 3.0 [Part 2] Context is Queen

Latest News

You want to know who wears the pants? Context is Relevant!

If I were on twitter, I would be twittering. But since I’m here, I’m gaggling!! ;D

Content is All Good and Fine, But it doesn’t Bring Forward Relevance

It doesn’t really matter if you create a wonderful bunch of content and then hide it under a bush. To make your content shine, you need for it to be in a close relationship to a relevant context. The relationship is the medium — the medium which is the message: the domain name. The domain name that is relevant is the one that is related to the cognitive frame of mind (the cognitive state or structure — even more: the aim) of the user. The user expresses his or her own needs in their own language. (see also virtual shelf space)

Cognitive Structures are Localized

Have you ever remembered a smell + then remembered a story based on that smell? Maybe you have, but perhaps you didn’t even realize it. Or how about when you try to remember something — you can’t remember it , but if you retrace your steps then you can? You are re-creating the context that helped to bring that idea into your awareness.

One-Size Fits-All search (such as Google or Bing) doesn’t get this at all. Even Youtube search doesn’t put you in a “frame of mind”, but only in a “frame of media” (namely: Flash video). Frames of mind are such things as “news” or “games” … or “business” or “poker” … or “credit swaps” (a sub-frame of “swaps”) or “I’ll see you”.

That’s it — I’ll see you later!

What is Web 3.0 [Part 1] People Are Meaningless

Latest News

Like I was saying: It’s not about me, it’s about us

People are strange - but it doesn’t matter.

Love is a Social Phenomenon

If you want to have a relationship with a piece of plastic, then you’re such a drag.

Chomsky is Right

This isn’t really an academic issue: A smile is something everybody everywhere says in the same language.

What’s the Relationship?

You notice how relationship and related sound kind of similar? I think that’s kind of relevant, and that’s why I raised it!

;D

I’m Going on a Diet

I want us to share ideas. I don’t care if you have friends or not: just tell me what you care about — but don’t Feed Me Anything You Think, I want it to be relevant to me. Your meaning + My meaning = Shared meaning.

Please: No Pushing — Pushers Are Not Welcome!

Please don’t spew all of your RSS all over me. Tell me what’s important to me. If I think the world is PHLAT (pretty hyper, local and topical), then tell me how it’s not (but only since I’m so obsessed with this kind of information), or that you agree, or whatever — but make sure it’s related.

Relationship Matters

I am he as you are he… — oh, wait: We’ve already been there (see previous link ;).  I’m a patient — are you a doctor? I wanna sing — do you know a song? One I can sing out loud? Sing out strong? I am totally enthisiastic about… — no, not about friends… — about: topics. Our relationships are connected via ideas, topics, shared space in the loci of stories in which our lives intertwine….

As sites become more about us, there is a greater need to identify who we are — and that is, of course, where the Wisdom of the Language comes in!
