Just very basic stuff — but I am nonethless proud to announce the relaunch of Browse.NAME! It’s only a start — I plan to roll out more features. The “top websites” window will have both a “default” page and also keword / keyphrase related links. And of course the “white hat” approach totally decimates the “big-media” / “traditional”/ “old-fashioned” one-size fits-all search engine “black box” approach.
Since I’m still developing this project, I would love to hear your feeback regarding whether you think it’s good, what could be better, etc.
Thanks for your help!

Does this mean that apples will no longer refer to fruit, but only to fashionable computers? What is an apple farmer to do, if he/she is outbid by a multinational computer company?
So there are plenty of 3- or 4-letter words that could become markets for a wide range of goods & services — who will regulate the trades (or will there be no regulation whatsoever)?
This could become very amusing very fast….
(for additional background, please see the BBC news article)

Well, er, um,… — NO! If you go to Advertise-My.COM then you will see links to Advertise-My.NET and Advertise-My.ORG — each of these properties are for specific target audiences (not demographic — but rather “psychographic” audiences).
Of course all of this will probably make more sense if you actually click through and try it out….

ps: yes, I realize it’s very bare-bones — I personally like no-nonsense websites that are super-light and quick; however, if you have a suggestion for how it could be improved, I’m quite open to any & all suggestions! ( It’s really just a start and I would love to hear what you suggest :)

Here’s a quote from the newly published Domain Name Industry Brief 2008: “The CEO and the head of IT play the predominant roles in the selection of the domain name itself”.
The selection of domain names should be guided by the marketing department or a department with similar expertise related to communication.

A little over a month ago I commented on Paul Krugman’s blog — he wrote about the “fruits of globalization” (and that is something I have spent well over 3 decades discussing with my father).
My comment on his blog was not about the “fruits of globalization” per se — but rather about the fact that the PDF he mentioned cost less via Amazon.COM than via the publisher of the book itself.
I don’t know why my comment wasn’t printed — it probably tipped off some kind of spam-filter because I didn’t use PG-13 talk or something like that. But even my poor language or the censorship of reader comments by some pencil-pusher at the New York Times are not what this is about, either. So now you may be thinking (or even crying out loud):
Oh — sorry about that, chief. Well, last week while I wasn’t looking, Mr. Krugman pulled a fast one — he wrote something that I know something about while I wasn’t watching! :O
Oh, well, too late now. It’s all over now, baby blue. This may be the last time — I don’t know. Give my regards to Esther Dyson — I think she’s onto something (probably because she was 10 years ahead of the market about 5 years ago; 20 years ahead of the market 10 years ago — maybe someday we’ll catch up with her).
I’d sure like to….
btw: look NYT — no links!

The Yahoo management must be off its rocker!
Google & Yahoo are now “partners”? Well: “Howdy, partners”. If I ever want to see a “one-size fits-all” ppc ad, I’ll look you up, OK?
In related news: there’s talk that clicks no longer matter — for more coverage, see e.g. Paid Content and/or the somewhat more colorful simeons.wordpress.com.

Not quite: Google is simply sitting back and counting the money.
I’ll bet advertisers will be happier if you take the printed copy to the beach rather than just skimming the article online.
Because I want you to travel lightly through time and space.

Well, this isn’t really news — I said this stuff several years ago at a domain conference.
Interesting stats.
In general: The Wild West is far less controlled than Europe. But it might also be interesting to compare TLDs (”top level domains”) with respect to censorship issues.
